Writing Contest
The theme for this year's youth writing contest is Hope. Hope is far-reaching and we encourage children to be creative and inspiring in their work. Poetry and short stories centered on our theme will be accepted. There will be a 1st Place Winner and 10 Honorable Mention Awards in each of the 3 divisions (elementary, middle and high school). This writing contest is also open to home school students.
Culturatti Kids publishes one book per year, highlighting up-and-coming young writers. All contest winners will be published in the Hope Anthology, receive a free copy of the book and one for his/her school. There are 3 divisions: elementary, middle and high school.
Students may submit as many poems and short stories as they like. Short stories must be between 500 and 2,500 words and may consist of fiction or non-fiction. The entry fee is $10 and applies to each piece submitted.
The deadline is April 31st, 2010. Winners will be announced in November.
School Participation
School participation is appreciated. As way to say thank you, the school with the most student submissions will receive our Literary Contribution
Award and a $5,000 donation to their library or media center. There will be a winning school in each division. The writing contest is also open to home school students.

Submission Guidelines
All work submitted must be centered around this year's theme of Hope. Hope is far-reaching and we encourage children to be creative and inspiring in their work.
You may submit as many Poems and Fiction or Non-Fiction Short Stories as you like. The $10 entry fee applies to each submission. Short stories should be between 500 and 2,500 words. Send your work to us at:

All works submitted to contests are considered for other contests and prizes we concurrently run.
You must include the following for each submission:
- Your name and date of birth.
- Complete mailing address.
- Telephone number.
- The name of your school.
- English teacher, reading teacher or writing instructor.
- Email address.
- Your $10 entry fee. We accept checks, money orders or payment online using your parent's credit or debit card.

Any work you submit may be published in Culturatti Kids' E-zine, in our book series and/or on our website. We don't return submissions, so keep a copy.
Label all work fiction, nonfiction or poetry. Be sure to include a title.
Deadlines-The Deadline for this Contest is October 30, 2009.
Include the following originality statement at the end of each submission: "This will certify that the above work is completely original," followed by your full name to affirm this is your work.
Request Anonymity. If due to the very personal nature of a piece you don't want your name published, we will respect your request, but you still must include name and address information.
Writing may be edited and we reserve the right to publish our edited version without your prior approval. We may not print your name on sensitive personal articles and in rare cases we may change names to protect individuals' identities.
