Never! There is never an obligation to purchase anything from Culturatti Kids, participate in our writing contest or make a donation to qualify for grants or funding.
Our parent company is Culturatti Ink, a small publishing house the produces books on different forms of culture and diversity. Culturatti Ink donates a large portion of each book sold to help fund our literary programs. We raise funds from our annual writing contest open to every student in the country. We have several retail fundraisers throughout the year. Grants, individual and corporate donations also allow us to offer our programs.

There is not maximum dollar amount you can request. We consider all Wish Lists submitted on time and make our final determination based on our current budget, number of applicants and weight of your essay of need.
Every attempt will be made to notify you by email, postal service and/or phone. We will also post award notifications on our website.
Funds for teacher compensation, foreign language instruction, English as a second language programs. These are just a few examples. Feel free to contact us prior to submitting your Wish List with questions on eligibility.
Yes. Your school may apply for multiple grants for different programs or classrooms.
Yes! We welcome new ideas for writing workshops. If you submit a suggestion, please provide a brief outline and we will consider adding it to our list.
All winners will receive a certificate and publication in our annual anthology.
There will be one 1st Place Winner ten Honorable Mention Award winners in each division (elementary, middle and high school) per state.

Publishing - Any work you submit may be published in Culturatti Kids' E-zine, in our book series and/or on our website. We don't return submissions, so keep a copy. Label all work fiction, nonfiction or poetry. Be sure to include a title. Deadlines - The Deadline for this Contest is August 1, 2009. Include the following originality statement at the end of each submission: "This will certify that the above work is completely original," followed by your full name to affirm this is your work.
Request Anonymity. If due to the very personal nature of a piece you don't want your name published, we will respect your request, but you still must include name and address information.
Editing - Writing may be edited and we reserve the right to publish our edited version without your prior approval. We may not print your name on sensitive personal articles and in rare cases we may change names to protect individuals' identities.
Rights - All works submitted become the property of Culturatti Kids and all copyrights are assigned to Culturatti Kids. We retain the non-exclusive rights to publish all such works in any format. All material in Culturatti Kids is copyrighted to protect us and to exclude others from republishing your work. No. Student winners are not paid for their work. However, they do have the privilege of being published nationally.

The entry fee is $10 per submission. You may submit as many poems and short stories as you wish. The more you submit the higher your chance of winning and publication.
Yes, students can send photocopies or clear, color photographs of any kind of artwork to accompany their writing submission. Please remember that we do not return original artwork so it's best to send high resolution (at least 300 dpi) copies. If students mail or email artwork, be sure they include their name, parental consent, name of their short story or poem, name and address of their school, date of birth, home address/city/state/zip and telephone number.
Students may submit work anytime after May 1st and before September 1st. Students may submit as many poems and short stories as they like. The $10 entry fee applies to each submission.
The judging panel consists of professional editors, educators and successful published authors. Our panel will thoroughly review each submission. Every submission is read by at least two panel members. The winners will be those who exhibit the most creativity, originality, substantive material and engaging approach.
The panel will agree on one 1st Place Winner in each division as well as 10 others worthy of the Honorable Mention Award. The 1st Place Winners and the Honorable Mention Award recipients will be published in our annual student anthology.

We truly value feedback and input from educators on our current workshops and ideas about new ones. You can help us spread the word about our programs, services and writing contest. We invite you to review our children's book titles and give us your honest opinion and ways your students have benefitted from the books. This helps us in selecting future children's books. Contest winners will be notified by email, mail and on our website. Winners will also receive a free copy of the published anthology.
Your work will be published through our parent company, Culturatti Ink, and will be marketing nationally to the education sector and the general public. It will be available visible at all online bookstores and can be ordered at any brick and mortar bookstore in the country.
